2007 Marching Band
The Kailua High School Marching Band has recently received Excellent and Superior ratings this past few years in the competitions and exhibitions we have participated in. We are comprised of 31 students in grades 9-12. Marching Band members MUST be enrolled in the Symphonic Band. Our marching band is considered to have the most hard-working students in the band. During the summer, they meet for several weeks Monday through Friday in order to condition, learn how to march and learn their music. When school starts, practice is 2:30-6PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10-3 on Saturdays. We perform annually at our Homecoming game (This year, it was on September 28th against Kalaheo), the Moanalua Menehune Marching Festival, the Kamehameha Tournament of Bands Competition, the Rainbow Marching Band Invitational and the Mililani Bandfest Marching Tournament.

The most successful season, yet! Now we need a flag corps, again ;) A heartfelt thanks to all of the people that made our season so successful! This group includes parents, administrators and staff, friends and community members. I would personally like to thank my staff members who helped throughout the season. I really appreciate your dedication, and our success would not be without out combined efforts. Way to go!

We have a "Japanese" theme this year. Our Marching Band, led by Drum Major Christine Nishida, is going to perform:
Theme from Abarenbo Shogun Theme from Spirited Away Percussion Feature-Tank, from Anime Cowboy Bebop Sadame/Methuselah
Special thanks to Mr. Gavin Min for arranging our opener, and to the alumni and boosters who are supporting our endeavors.
Thank you to Assistant Marching Director Chris Ching and Field Staff Coordinator Jason Morisato for their continued excellence with the marching band. We couldn't do it without you guys!
Thank you to Gail Oyama, Cheryl Ernst and Andy Yamaguchi for volunteering to help organize, label, maintain and distribute our new uniforms!

Excellent job, everyone! I am always so amazed at how well we can do with 19 winds, 6 battery (no pit), 5 self-taught flags and a drum major with complete artistic freedom. I am so proud of all of you. I hope we can continue to improve, and strive for even more success in the future. Congratulations, again!
